Outfit of the Day: Rocky Houndstooth

After writing about one of my favourite patterns yesterday, I went out and found myself a houndstooth pencil skirt. I was exceptionally pleased with this purchase and could not wait to style it. I decided to play it risqué and go for an edgy, out-of-comfort-zone look and pair it with my cut-out boots. The rest of the outfit is in nicely in my comfort zone, I just felt on show walking around my village comprehensive in a tight skirt and heels.

I also spritzed on my new Katy Perry perfume and it smells lovely. If smells had emotions then this fragrance would definitely be fierce.

There is literally no link to Rocky Horror here. I simply have learnt how to use Polyvore properly and went for a wild time creating today's clothing montage. However, I may have inspiration for this week's Movie Monday!

Outfit of the Day: In the Highlands

So I lied. I actually wore this to school yesterday but I'm in love with Scottish boarding school chic.
The Chelsea boots 'keep it real'. No one can walk through Scottish countryside in cut-outs or loafers. However, that would look simply marvellous!

Houndstooth

There's something about a houndstooth garment that gives you instant class. It represents a thought-out outfit and gives you that vintage nod of approval. A houndstooth blazer looks well-groomed on men, a skirt looks innocent and intelligent paired with a jumper. The Mod subculture were famous for working this look by incorporating the pattern into dresses.
Thank you to all the beautiful people below that posted their take on houndstooth.

When it comes to beauty, she is flawless.

She's really good at advertising lipstick..

Movie Monday: Pretty in Pink

I have a vast and growing amount of DVDs. Something you'd learn about me as one peruses through my collection, is that I adore 80s movies, especially those cult 'coming-of-age' ones.

This Monday, I have chosen to dedicate my movie post to a recently acquired film, Pretty in Pink. Written by John Hughes and starring some of my favourites, Molly Ringwald, Andrew McCarthy and Jon Cryer, this is a film that everyone can relate to an aspect of, at some point in their life.

And please can we take a moment to appreciate Duckie's shoes. I love a good pair of shoes on a bloke.

A huge reason for my love of these movies is that they are real, as in, they address real issues and real emotions. They show the development of the so-called 'lost' teenagers, never truly lost, just smarter and more genuine than everyone else. Another reason - everyone is cooler than me. I am an 80s girl, having to live my teen years in the Tensies (what is this decade even called?)

Elf Hair

I decided to go for a Wood Elf look with my hair and here are the results...
Inspired by Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Norse Gods and Vikings, I think it's a very strong look, especially against those gingery locks of mine!

Unfortunately, I do not have the skills to recreate the intricacies of Legolas and Tauriel's hair. Instead I ended up looking like this guy...

My love for Kurt Hummel

I am a Gleek. This is the first time I have admitted it but anyone that knows me with probably agree with this statement. I am almost certain there will be other Glee related posts in the future but for now, I would like to draw attention to my love for Kurt Hummel. He is sassy and stylish but a real sweetie. When it comes to style, he breaks boundaries and always manages to look good, but I'll address his fashion sense later. For now, I just wanted to share my adoration for this character and Chris Colfer, the darling that plays him in the series.

Happy Friday everybody!
